Namibian Prime Minister Angula Meets with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi

BEIJING, China, January 9, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- On January 5, 2012, Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Windhoek.

During their talks, Angula said that Namibia cherishes the traditional friendship with China, attaches great importance to its ties with China and is committed to promoting practical cooperation with China in various areas such as economy and trade and agriculture in a bid to further uplift the level of bilateral ties for the benefit of both peoples. Namibia expects more Chinese enterprises to participate in the country's social and economic construction and help Namibia achieve sustainable development, he said.

Yang, for his part, said that China and Namibia share a profound traditional friendship and bilateral ties enjoy healthy and smooth development with frequent high-level exchanges. Trade and economic cooperation has made remarkable achievements, cultural exchanges have taken new steps and both sides have coordinated closely in the international and regional affairs. China is satisfied with the progress made in bilateral relations. To deepen China-Namibia friendly cooperation is the common aspiration of both governments and both peoples, and is in the interest of both countries. China is willing to work with Namibia to further advance political dialogue and friendly contacts, expand practical cooperation and take advantage of their respective strengths in a bid to improve people's livelihood, he said. He believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Namibia friendly and cooperative relations will achieve greater development.

Yang arrived in Windhoek on the evening of January 4 for an official visit to Namibia.
